POLSON — Ten-year-old Isaiah Nasewytewa admitted to two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct Thursday in front of District Court Judge Deborah Kim Christopher.

Christopher made sure the youth knew what he was doing by admitting to the charges brought by the prosecution’s Deputy County Attorney J. Cory Allen. Allen dropped the felony burglary charge previously brought against the boy in lieu of his admitting to the disorderly conduct charges, unless he breaks the law again.

Nasewytewa said he understood he had the right to a jury trial and declined to use that right. Nasewytewa admitted to the two incidents from March 22 and April 30 of this year that led to the two counts of disorderly conduct.

As punishment for these crimes, Nasewytewa will be placed in a program for delinquent youth for one year, beginning as soon as a spot for the boy can be found.

A disposition hearing has been set for July 25, just after Nasewytewa’s eleventh birthday. Until then, Nasewytewa will be in the custody of his grandmother and must continue to follow the 9 p.m. curfew and other stipulations already in place.
