SHERIFF: Looking out for children
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 7 months AGO
For the past few days there have been several letters to the editor about the so-called “discrimination” against gays. Sheriff Wolfinger has taken a stand about the Boy Scouts of America deciding to admit openly gay youth into their ranks.
It has become too “politically correct” to give in to all the things that weaken our society just to show how tolerant we are. It is seldom that an official makes a stand for righteousness. Our sheriff has done so and I applaud his decision.
Despite what opponents say, it is not about hate or intolerance of a group of people. It is about their influence on the lives of our children. Who do you think influences our children to do drugs, drink alcohol, steal and have sex? It is the other kids with whom they associate — their peers. If they associate with those of good moral values they will be much less likely to fall into immorality and crime. Place one immoral kid in a group and he influences them toward his immorality. Peer pressure has an enormous influence on kids of all ages.
According to the Bible, homosexuality is an unclean, unnatural perversion. The scriptures make it clear that those who practice it will not make it to heaven (along with adulterers, murderers, liars and thieves). Read Romans 1:24-32 if you doubt me.
I also have a scriptural reference for the “Christian” who wrote in defense of homosexuality and condemned the Sheriff for his stance.
Pro 17:15 He that justifies the wicked, and he that condemns the just, even they both are abominations to the LORD.
We need to protect our children from every kind of perversion and wickedness. I urge you to support Sheriff Wolfinger in his decision to not support an organization that gave in to political pressure and abandoned their moral stand.
