Swimmers third at Shelby meet

The Columbia Falls swim team took third at the Shelby meet June 8-9 to open its season. The Cats sent just 27 swimmers to the meet.

On the girls side, Kathleen Bellon took first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 49.6 seconds. Bubba Loyda had three first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle, the 50 backstroke and the 50 butterfly, with times of 28.06, 32.9 and 32.66 respectively.

Garrett Role was first in the 100 breast stroke, with a time of 1:21:94. James Role was first in the 50 breast stroke with a time of 52.16.

The team will travel to Plains this weekend. They have their home meet June 22-23.
