MATTAWA - The Wahluke High School and Junior High School fields will be busy with soccer action next week, thanks to a grant from the United Kingdom International Soccer Camp program.

Wahluke Junior High Dean of Students Sean Langdon said there will be about 90 youngsters and five coaches involved on June 10-13. Fifty will come from the junior high.

Working through Barbara Peterson, Executive Director of NLA group, Jay Scott and Jeremy Payton were able to secure a $3000 grant.

"Jeremy had told me the soccer camp wasn't going very well, funding wise, and it might not even happen due to lack of funding," Scott said. "Therefore, we approached our supervisor about the situation of the summer soccer camp and delivered to her our idea in order to secure funding."

Peterson agreed that the UK Soccer Camp was a great opportunity for Wahluke students and a positive way to keep the students engaged with the school during the Summer.
