Beginning this Saturday, motorists will be able to access Logan Pass in Glacier Park from the east side of Going-to-the-Sun Road. Vehicles on the west side can travel as far as Avalanche Creek. All 50 miles of the road is anticipated to be open to vehicle travel by Friday, June 21.

Restrooms at Logan Pass will be open, but potable water will not be available until next week. The Logan Pass Visitor Center remains closed at this time.

Visitors will discover a snow-covered landscape at Logan Pass. The trails around the pass remain covered in snow and may be difficult to follow, officials warn.

Hikers are reminded that snow that may not support your body weight due to melt holes and running water beneath the snow. Snow bridges over streams and wet rocks along streams can be hazardous. Avoid crossing steep, snow-covered slopes where a fall could be disastrous. A reliable map and compass are recommended when traveling on snow-covered trails. The Highline Trail from Logan Pass is closed due to snow conditions.

There are no hiker/biker restrictions on the Going-to-the-Sun Road this weekend. Beginning Monday, June 17, hikers and bikers cannot travel between Avalanche Creek and Logan Pass due to road construction and park road crew work. For current information on hiker/biker access on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, please visit the road status webpage at http://home.nps.gov/applications/glac/roadstatus/roadstatus.cfm.
