MOSES LAKE - A hot dog cart is already on its way to Sinkiuse Square and now another local food vendor is looking to add a second mobile restaurant downtown.

Moses Lake resident Carlos Wright discussed the possibility of adding a fish and shrimp taco restaurant to Sinkiause Square at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

"I would like to offer our town a fun but fine-dining experience with the backdrop of our beautiful square," Wright wrote in a letter to the council.

Wright's restaurant, simply called The Gulf, would serve tacos Thursdays and Fridays throughout the summer, with possibly adding Saturday. He said he will also offer "temporary additions" to the menu at various times.

Wright was directed to speak with staff about his options and concerns about the size of the structure. Wright said the building, which is stationed on a vehicle trailer, is about 8 feet wide and 25 feet long.

Community Development Gilbert Alvarado said the structure would need to be inspected by the city, as well as the Department of Labor and Industries, before any decision could be made. Alvarado said there are a few taco wagons in the city that are similar structures.

Wright will have to wait for staff approval before any decision can be made by the City Council.

Residents can still take the chance to sample the tacos, which Wright said is the "best you'll ever taste," at the Moses Lake Business Association's Nite Out event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
