Prairie falls in tourney opener

MISSOULA, Mont. - James Prockish and Austin Allen each drove in two runs for Prairie, but the Spokane Bandits used a six-run second inning to beat the Cardinals 9-6 on Thursday on the first day of the Missoula Mavericks Memorial Tournament.
Tanner Parker and Matt Hare drove in three runs each for the Bandits.
"We made a lot of mistakes today but I was very pleased how the players responded," Prairie coach Dustin Frank said. "We had some great approaches offensively."
Prairie (2-7) plays the Spokane Blue Devils and the Casper (Wyo.) Oilers today.

COEUR d'ALENE - Tanner Criswell had two hits and drove in three runs as the Lakers beat the Lumberjacks in the first round of the Mt. Spokane tournament at Coeur d'Alene High.
Gage Holmes pitched five innings and earned the win for the Lakers.
Brendan Delgado struck out five for the Lumberjacks, and went 2 for 2 with the only RBI.
