Edna Marie Poston, 87, passed away at Bonner General Hospital, Sandpoint, on June 19, 2013.

Edna was born in Sandpoint Aug. 20, 1925, to Emil and Louise Anderson of Kootenai. She attended local schools and graduated from Sandpoint High School. As a young woman she worked as a bicycle messenger at Naval Supply Depot in Spokane. She married Fredlin Gravelle in 1943 in Sandpoint. Shortly after their marriage Fredlin deployed with the U.S. Army to Europe and was killed in action.

Edna had a son, Freddie Lee Gravelle, in March of 1944.

Edna married Clarence “Cary” Poston in 1949, and she and Cary, his son Cary, and Freddie lived in Prineville, Ore., for a few years, returning to Coeur d’Alene in 1953 with the boys and a young daughter Valerie.

The family lived in Post Falls from 1954 until Edna moved to the Bridge Assisted Living Center in Sandpoint in 2011.

Edna is survived by her brother Mervin “Bill” Anderson, her sister Virginia “Ginger” Kohal, her son, Freddie (Rojean) Gravelle, daughter Valerie Scates, and stepson Cary (Rae Ann) Poston; grandsons Rob Gravelle, Jeff Gravelle, David Gravelle, Trent Poston, Darin Scates, and Tyler Busby; granddaughters Whitney Moreno and Lana Lindstrom; 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her mother and father, her first husband Fredlin, her brother Emil, her sister MaryAnn, her husband Cary, two grandsons and one great grandson.

Arrangements are in the care of English Funeral Services of Post Falls.

Edna will be buried in Post Falls alongside her husband Cary.
