EPHRATA - Ephrata police are looking for witnesses relating to the high speed chase from Ephrata to Soap Lake early Monday morning.

About 5 a.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a black Mercedes SUV traveling at a high rate of speed on state Route 28 north of Ephrata. The driver, Nikolay Alksandr Kozlov, 32, of Soap Lake, allegedly reached speeds close to 150 mph on SR 28 before being caught in Soap Lake, according to reports.

During the pursuit, officers observed several vehicles forced to avoid the SUV in the area. Kozlov drove in the wrong lane for much of the chase.

Before the chase, Kozlov allegedly yelled at a state Department of Fish and Wildlife employee on Alder Street Northwest

Ephrata police are still investigating the incident and asking anyone who had contact with the driver or was impacted by the chase to contact the department at 509-754-2491.

More information is needed for the investigation to ensure "correct and complete charges" are filed against Kozlov, who has currently been charged with eluding a police vehicle, according to Grant County Jail records. Anyone with information can also contact the non-emergency dispatch line at 509-762-1160.
