COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen nearly pulled out a win Sunday at the Best of the Northwest wood-bat tournament, but the Spokane Expos scored two runs in the top of the fifth to rally past the Lums for a 4-3 victory at Ramsey Park.

Coeur d'Alene went 0-4 in the tourney.

"This was a select tournament," Lums coach Lloyd Duman said. "We were the only Legion team in our pod, and we played some pretty good teams. Even though we didn't win any games, we competed really well."

Joe Roletto slid around the tag at home, scoring on a single by Brett Robbins to put Coeur d'Alene (5-15) ahead 3-2. Roletto also pitched six strong innings, and Elliott Sparks threw a four-pitch seventh.

Shawn Montee hit an RBI single in the third inning for the Lums.

On Saturday, the Lums lost to the Wilkinson Baseball Academy and the Northwest Blaze.

Coeur d'Alene returns to action Tuesday, hosting the Lewis-Clark Twins in a class AA North Idaho League doubleheader at 5 p.m. at Ramsey Park.
