Gordon DeHart, 79

Gordon DeHart, of Post Falls, took his last breath on June 18, 2013, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with family at his side. He was born in Elton, Wisc., on Aug. 27, 1933, and was the ninth child, of 15, born to Richard G. and Sarah (Porter) DeHart.

Gordon and his wife, the former Jeannette Radke, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on March 16, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., and was always proud of being a paratrooper.

Gordon worked for Self Service Furniture in Spokane for over 20 years, leaving there to start a fish waste hauling business in Kodiak, Alaska, with his son-in-law, Randy Mullen. When Randy returned to Post Falls, Steve joined his father in running the business. Gordon retired in 1997 and Steve bought his father’s shares, and is still operating the business.

He is survived by his wife, sisters: Dorothy Sorensen, Wisc., Evelyn Holland, Lottie (Jim) Williams, Billings, Mont., Jean Anderson, Great Falls, Mont., Betty (Jim) Roller, Eugene, Ore., five children; Diane Adams, Olympia, Wash., Steve (Elsa) DeHart, Kodiak, Alaska, Linda Kuhn, Alaska, Lori Mullen, Post Falls, Mark (Sue) DeHart, Spirit Lake, 13 grandchildren; Todd (Jenn) Adams, Dustin (Kim) Adams, Tara Adams, Chris, Craig and Kyle DeHart, Sandra (Michael) Mayor, Jennifer DeHart, Brandon Mullen, Travis Barnes, Kassidy Kuhn, Tina and Sara DeHart, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dale, Harold, Roy, Ray, Edward and William DeHart, sisters; Carol DeHart, Naomi Freda, Martha Murphy, and son-in-law Randy Mullen.

Viewing will be noon, Saturday, June 29, 2013, until service time. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
