The Superior Bobcats played three summer league games this week and continued their impressive run by winning all three of the games.
According to Head Coach Chris Toivonen, the boys “took a step forward” in their improvement this week going up against Ronan, Mission and Noxon.
Coach Toivonen mentioned the efforts of several Bobcats over the course of the week, including the defensive prowess of Jarrod Tippens who “did a great job on both ends of the floor during the week.”
“In fact, he made a block versus Mission that may have been the best defensive play of the summer thus far,” Coach Toivonen said.
Tucker Smith was also mentioned by Coach Toivonen for his all around play throughout the week, including playing solid defense.
In one for the highlight reel on Friday night against Noxon, Clint Voll took a fast break opportunity to show his stuff – delivering what Coach Toivonen called a “rim-rattling” slam dunk against the Red Devils. Voll also led the Bobcats in rebounding for the week.
Josh Benda earned the title of “most dangerous” outside shooter from Coach Toivonen this week by connecting on an impressive six three-pointers.
“Tanner Smith had two great games versus Ronan and Mission,” Coach Toivonen said “He ran the team in a highly efficient manner and was solid on defense.”
Another emerging Bobcat basketball player is Vicente Guerrero, who Coach Toivonen said played well on defense this week in addition to running the offense against Noxon.
“Aaron Kelly was a major contributor as well,” Coach Toivonen said. “He delivered his best half of varsity basketball this summer versus Noxon as he grabbed five rebounds in the last part of the game alone.”
The Bobcats are on the road this week for their games.
