Jack A. Finney, 62, of Harrison, went home to be with his Lord on June 27, 2013, after an extended battle with cancer. Born on Nov. 7, 1950, in Bothell, Wash., to William V. Finney and Mildred E. (Warner) Finney of Coeur d’Alene. Jack moved to Coeur d’Alene with his family at the age of 5. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1969 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970 where he served in Germany as a combat engineer squad leader with the rank of Sergeant.
Jack married Darla M. Hotchkiss on Aug. 14, 1976, the two having known each other since he was 11 and she was 6. As a partner in the Finney Brothers Logging company, and later the owner of Jack Finney Logging, he spent his working years in the landscape that he loved. Whether working, hunting or just for enjoyment, Jack spent his life in the forests of Idaho with his family and friends. Jack passed his love for his Lord and the outdoors onto his children; Lisa and Nat Biondo of Coeur d’Alene, Angela and Thomas Stewart of Harrison, Luke and Cherie Finney of Harrison, Sharon Finney of Coeur d’Alene and Brenda Finney of Huntington Beach, Calif.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Finney. He is survived by his wife, Darla; five children; eight grandchildren; father Bill Finney; siblings, Bill and Kay Finney of Corbett, Ore., Joan Lack of Spokane, Paul and Sue Finney of Coeur d’Alene, Fred and Diane Finney of Post Falls, Jane and Randy Holte of Coeur d’Alene, Dave and Marilee Finney of Coeur d’Alene, Janet and Dave Weingart of Cataldo, Gary and Mary Jo Finney of Coeur d’Alene, Sally and Doug Johnson of Coeur d’Alene; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in RLM 1 at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls. Potluck lunch reception to follow.
