Twins in title game at Ed Gallo tourney

WHITEFISH — The Kalispell Lakers A locked up a spot in the third-place game of the Ed Gallo Tournament on Saturday, beating Fort McLeod 13-5 at Memorial Park.
The win, the Lakers’ second of the tournament, solidified their spot in this afternoon’s consolation game against the Glacier Babe Ruth All Stars. The All Stars beat Calgary 9-0 in the early game Saturday to secure their bid. The game starts at noon.
Glacier Twins A will play the Missoula Frontiers in the championship game. The Twins, who were off Saturday, beat the Lakers 10-3 in a nine-inning game late Friday night. Missoula is on a hot streak, beating Calgary 12-2 and Glacier’s B team 12-6 on Saturday.
The championship, which will start after the conclusion of the consolation game, is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Harry Griffith Tournament
Glendive 8, Libby 0
MILES CITY — Glendive pitcher Anthony Berg allowed just one hit as the Blue Devils blanked Libby at the Harry Griffith Tournament.
Berg pitched six innings of near perfect baseball, striking out seven batters and allowing just four runners to reach base. Andrew Haggerty picked up the lone hit off the Blue Devils’ ace, singling in the second inning. The Loggers got two runners on that inning, when Dylon Lane picked up a walk in the next at bat, but couldn’t score in what turned out to be the best opportunity of the afternoon for the Loggers. They got a runner into scoring position just one more time in the game.
Glendive had no trouble getting runners on base, picking up 15 hits, 13 in the final three innings. Berg was stellar from the plate as well, going 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs.
Libby will play for third place at the tournament today.

BELGRADE — Mission Valley racked up 18 hits and scored 19 runs in a high-scoring shootout with Idaho Falls at the Boys of Summer tournament.
Playing into extras, the Mariners found their groove in the top of the ninth inning, scoring six runs to take a commanding lead. Nine different Mariners recorded at least one RBI in the game and Zeke Webster-Yaqui, Brennan Andrews and TJ Olson each had three hits. Olson picked up the win for Mission Valley on the mound.
The Mariners scored three runs in the seventh, and eight over the final three innings of regulation, to send the game into extras.

WHITEFISH — Twins A combined for seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings, running away with a close nine-inning conference game over Lakers A and earning their way into the championship game of the Ed Gallo Tournament.
The Twins had 12 hits, two each from Shane Marcial, Peter Seymor, Zac Darling and Brandon Maassen. Hugh Ramlow picked up the win on the mound.
Lakers A won earlier in the day, defeating the Cranbrook (British Columbia) Bandits 6-5. The Twins’ B team beat the Calgary Redbirds 11-10, scoring six runs in the final inning to notch the victory. The Missoula Frontiers beat the Glacier Babe Ruth All-Stars 12-0.
The win advanced Glacier to the tournament’s championship game, to be played today at 3 p.m.
