MOSES LAKE - A fire Wednesday morning in Moses Lake caused extensive damage to a storage shed and several vehicles inside. No one was reported injured.

Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District 5 responded to a fire about 11 a.m. at an Excel Dairy Service, Inc. storage building on West Broadway Avenue.

Firefighters were able to quickly suppress the flames, but smoke continued to roll out of the open doors. Smoke was visible from the front of the building and from one of the corners on the west end. Firefighters cut away a section of the building's rear and continued to spray the ceiling.

According to Tom Taylor, Moses Lake fire chief, the center of the fire was on a boat stored on the building's west side. The boat sustained extensive damage. Numerous boats, as well as an RV and other vehicles, were damaged in the fire.

Heat and smoke damaged the ceiling of the building and insulation panels were on the ground, burnt away from the roof. No surrounding buildings appeared damaged.

Taylor said the cause and the origin of the fire have not been determined. The department continues its investigation.
