Tesh, Inc., is garnering kudos and cash.

The nonprofit in Coeur d'Alene received a $5,000 donation from the Coeur d'Alene Tribe to support its Child Development program.

The gift will be used to support Tesh's Camp Independence, which it hosts each summer for children with developmental disabilities. Last year, Camp Independence served 36 children between ages 4 and 21.

The camp is a nine-week summer program, which provides children with special needs the opportunity to interact with peers in a group setting while receiving one-on-one therapy from a life skills coach.

Tesh also received official notification from CARF that its programs and services for children and adults with disabilities have been awarded a Three-Year Accreditation.

"This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization's substantial conformance to the CARF standards," according to a press release.

An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable, the release said.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.
