Jean was born March 8, 1918, in Coaldale, Alberta, Canada, to Jane and Claire Cannon. She passed away Feb. 20, 2013, in Coeur d’Alene.

Jean’s family moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1920 where she and her sisters, Frances and Betty and her brother Tom graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School.

Jean met George Weeks, her husband of 42 years when they both worked at the Dream Theater in Coeur d’Alene. They moved several times and finally settled back in Coeur d’Alene in 1942. In 1946, they built a home on the north end of Hayden Lake which eventually became Hayden Haven Resort. In 1958, George was transferred to Missoula, Mont., and they lived there until retirement in 1968; they then returned to Hayden Haven and built a beautiful new home. A few years after George’s death in 1980, Jean married Clyde York and lived in Post Falls until Clyde’s death. She returned to Coeur d’Alene and lived there until moving to San Diego with Al Quince. After Al’s death, she moved back to Coeur d’Alene where she lived until her death.

Jean loved music, especially opera and musical comedies and would sing along with her records as she moved about the house. She volunteered at several hospitals in Missoula and Coeur d’Alene. Jean was a people person and made countless friends wherever she went; it has often been noted that she never made a negative comment about anyone and was always eager to help anyone in need or distress.

She raised two children, Mary (Reynolds) Weeks who died in an auto accident in 1979 and George Thomas (Tom) Weeks who now resides in Boulder, Colo. In addition to her son, she is survived by four grandchildren, Tracy Saulino-Weeks, Lisa Baxter-Weeks, Carabeth Reynolds and Mollianne Reynolds; and three great-grandchildren, Amelia Reynolds, Burke Reynolds and Jacob Baxter.

Jean lived a long and satisfying life and leaves loving relatives and friends all along her life path. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
