LPOSD proposed levy replaces current one

We have the opportunity to vote in support of a school levy that will replace the current levy.

We, along with 70 percent of the school districts in Idaho, rely on the supplemental monies from the levy to bridge the gap between state funding and the actual cost to fund public education.

The fact that the levy provides funding for one-third of district staffing speaks volumes to me.

I volunteer in my children’s classrooms, and I can’t imagine my fourth-grader’s class increasing from 30 students to 40 students per teacher. It wouldn’t be fair to her or her teacher.

I have been pleased by the caliber of our teachers and coaches.

Even if I didn’t have children currently enrolled in our schools, I would vote yes on the levy, because I believe a quality education is of great importance.
