Doris Hazel Gaylord passed away peacefully Jan. 31, 2013, in Flagstaff, Ariz., with her daughter and grandson by her side. She was 90.

Doris was born on Oct. 27, 1922, at her family home in Culver City, Calif., the daughter of Alma and Harold Cool.

Doris was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She worked for Southern California Gas Company for 35 years, and made many good and lasting friendships at her work place. She bowled in leagues and took part in many activities with her friends.

She loved her family and was always thoughtful by remembering everyone's birthday and special events with cards and letters. She wrote to soldiers in three wars to try and remind them of home.

Doris retired in 1984 and moved to be near her sister in Kalispell in 1990, and lived in her beloved little house until 2010.

She was a member of Adah Chapter No. 17 OES and Epworth Methodist Church in Kalispell.

Due to a stroke, she moved to Flagstaff, Ariz., to be cared for by her daughter and grandson.

Doris was loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her sister, Marcia, and Bob Wise, of Kalispell; her daughter, Barbara M. Murphy, of Flagstaff; grandson, Joe Murphy, of Flagstaff; great-grandson, Joey Murphy, of Flagstaff; and by her beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends in Kalispell, Flagstaff, California and around the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Harold Cool; her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Frank Heller; her brother and sister-in-law Norman and Agnes Cool; and her nephew, Richard Cool.
