Make-A-Wish Montana is in need of compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to step forward and volunteer their time and friendship in order to assist with wish fulfillment. Attendance is mandatory at one four-hour training session for all interested individuals.

Prospective volunteers are asked to register in advance for the upcoming training session on Saturday, March 16. For more information or to register, call the Make-A-Wish office at 259-9848.

The session will take place in room 202 of the Arts and Technology Building at Flathead Valley Community College. The training begins at 9 a.m. and will last until 1 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

As members of “wish teams,” volunteers are an important component of fulfilling wishes. Working together, the “wish team” meets with the wish child’s family, acts as a liaison between Make-A-Wish staff and the family and aids in determining the most suitable wish for the child.

In addition, volunteers help at special events, such as golf tournaments and dances, and help implement fundraising programs at schools and work places with the guidance of Make-A-Wish staff.

A wish volunteer must be 21 years of age, pass a criminal background check and attend the mandatory training session.

Make-A-Wish Montana is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Make-A-Wish serves all 56 counties in Montana and granted its first wish in 1987.

For more information call 1-800-676-9474.
