On Thursday Feb. 28, residents of Superior not only went to the Post Office to grab their mail and conduct business – they gathered to wish their best to Post Office Clerk Paula Mintz.
Mintz retired after 15-years of working for the Superior Post Office and her desk was decked out with flowers and balloons wishing her well in the next stage of her life.
For Mintz, the highlight of her time at the post office has been the residents she was able to interact with on a daily basis.
“Our customers and these fantastic people I work with have been my life,” Mintz said. “I love them and will miss them a ton. I love Superior and love the people here.”
In the afternoon, snacks were set up and residents were able to enjoy cookies while visiting and reminiscing with Mintz. Although Mintz was retiring and not resigning, she proudly showed off a homemade sign that said “the Pope and I,” since the Pope resigned on the same day.
Mintz does not plan to leave Mineral County in her retirement - instead she looks forward to spending time outdoors.
“I’m going to learn how to fish – it’s something I’ve never done a day in my life,” Mintz said. “That and biking and hiking and maybe a little bit of traveling. It’ll be fun.”
