COINUTS: Authorities did nothing to help

Gosh did I get “stung” by Kevin and Sarah Mitchell, the owners of CoiNuts — Coeur d’Alene.

I prepaid for gold coins on May 8 with delivery promised within two weeks. Seven weeks later after several trips to the store and numerous phone calls they would neither refund my money nor deliver the coins to me.

They have operated with impunity swindling 57 other trusting citizens to the tune of $1.4+ million.

It is amazing to me our law enforcement authorities did not act sooner to enforce Consumer Protection Act but rather let the Mitchells proceed with impunity. If they had only acted sooner I and others would not have been swindled. I would never have believed that a business could get away with behaving like CoiNuts did. I now find that the Mitchells through CoiNuts have been doing the same since 2010. What is particularly discouraging is numerous customer complaints over the last few years to both the police department and city attorney’s office have done nothing.

Does anybody care? Are any authorities going to be held responsible for permitting this to continue after so many complaints?

While I am glad CoiNuts is finally out of business, too many customers, me included, were fleeced by the Mitchells’ deceit which was reported to the proper authorities.
