Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 10 months AGO
Billee Stanley passed away Feb. 17, 2013, in Coeur d'Alene. Billee was born to Thomas and Irene Hunt on Jan. 16, 1925, on the Hunt family ranch in Kingston. The family moved to Coeur d'Alene in the early 1940s and it was where Billee resided until her death.
Billee married Clare “Ozzie” Oswald in 1948 in Coeur d'Alene. They had one son Michael Oswald. Mr. Oswald passed away in 1950. Billee married Edward Stanley in 1966 and they had a son, Thomas Stanley.
Billee worked hard and as a single mother instilled in her sons a strong work ethic. She worked for many years at the local telephone company and later the Idaho Department of Employment.
Billee had a great story telling ability and entertained us all with stories of her childhood growing up in Kingston playing in and around the old Cataldo Mission. She loved music and never missed a chance to step out and dance. She was a great fan of basketball and her favorite teams were North Idaho College where she volunteered as a booster and Gonzaga University. Even though suffering from Alzheimer's, Billee would always remember to call her son Mike to remind him of a Zags game.
Billee is survived by her sons, Mike Oswald, Thomas Stanley and daughter-in-law Linda Oswald; granddaughters, Shauna Harris and Natalie Oswald; grandson-in-law Rafael Harris; and great- grandchildren, Justin and GG Harris. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Toomey of Sandpoint, Grace Smith of Priest River and Naida Dupree of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare Oswald; her parents, Tom and Irene Hunt; and brother Thomas Hunt.
A celebration of Billee's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. Memorials can be made to The Alzheimer's Association. Donate by mail:
