MOSES LAKE — A 14-year-old Moses Lake boy was arrested Friday after allegedly shooting his parents.

About 10 p.m. police responded to a home on Battery Road. According to police reports, officers found two adults injured at the scene. Neighbors in the area identified the victims as Jonathon and Elizabeth Brooks, of Moses Lake, and the boy’s parents.

Both victims were transported to an out of area hospital for treatment. The victims' names were not released by police at this time, but are believed to be family members, according to police Chief Dave Ruffin.

Detectives developed information that led to the arrest of the teen. "While we appreciate the desire for more information, it is important we give your detectives time to investigate this incident to obtain as much accurate information as possible," Captain Dave Sands stated in the press release. Police will not release more information until Monday.

The boy is a student at Moses Lake Christian Academy, according to school officials. His name was not released.

Brian Meiners, director, and Stephanie Voight, interim director at the academy, released a statement via Facebook addressing the incident.

"We are extremely saddened by this incident and we are praying for the student and the victims. We are a small school and everyone is extremely close, which is a blessing because that is one of the qualities which help us all get through this tragedy."

The MLCA high school dance scheduled for Saturday night is cancelled in respect for those involved in the shooting.
