NIC no-hit as CSI sweeps softball series

COEUR d'ALENE - Brandi Hall pitched a no-hitter in the second game as the 13th-ranked College of Southern Idaho beat North Idaho College 22-0 in five innings to sweep the Scenic West Athletic Conference series Sunday at Memorield Field.
CSI (25-5, 19-1 SWAC), which won twice on Saturday, took the opener 6-3.
Patti Ferguson hit a three-run homer in a six-run fourth inning in the opener for CSI. Shanika Sawyer hit a two-run double in the seventh to pull NIC (6-19, 3-15) within three runs.
Whitney Carlton hit a grand slam in the second inning of the second game for CSI.
NIC plays host to Colorado Northwestern in doubleheaders Friday and Saturday.
