Fr. Roderick J. Garvey C.S.s.R., 89, resident of the retired Priest facility in Ligouri, Mo., died March 8, 2013, in Legouri. Fr. Rod was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Coeur d'Alene, he was ordained on Jan. 6, 1949.

He is survived by four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Colleen and Jim Chase, Fran Hagen, Rita and Don Fitzpatrick, and Mary Walker McFarland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d'Alene. His funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
