Margie H. Roth, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away at Hospice House of North Idaho on March 13, 2013. She was born on May 23, 1915, in Shelby, Neb., to Otto and Lottie Lux. They moved to Ponoka, Alberta, Canada, in 1917 and to Coeur d’Alene in 1923.
She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1933 and on Sept. 20, 1950, she married Robert (Bob) Roth. She went to work for the Department of Employment in 1942 and remained there until her retirement in 1978. After Bob passed away she enjoyed traveling with the Rambling Rovers for several years. Margie also did beautiful needlepoint and spent many hours working on crossword puzzles. Margie was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Freda Thompson and Bernice Kellogg; and brothers, Robert and Richard Lux. She is survived by nieces, Gerry Souhrada and Vesta Fonseca; nephew Ken Thompson; numerous great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-grandnephew and loving, lifelong friend, Shirley Belstad.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Margie’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice House of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815 or charity of your choice.
