SPOKANE - Eric Williams picked up his fourth shutout of the season with 20 saves as the Spokane Chiefs beat the Tri-City Americans 6-0 in Western Hockey League play in front of a sellout crowd of 10,367 on Friday at the Spokane Arena.

With the win, Spokane (43-25-2, 88 points) clinches home-ice advantage against Tri-City (40-26-1, 84 points) for their best-of-7 game Western Conference playoff series, starting next Friday at 7:05 p.m.

Alessio Bertaggia opened the scoring on a power play, his 13th goal in 15 games with Spokane to take a 1-0 lead after the first period.

Carter Proft recorded his first two-goal game with Spokane, scoring twice in the second to give Spokane a 3-0 lead after two. Mitch Holmberg scored his 39th goal of the year early in the third and Jackson Playfair capped the scoring with his second goal of the season.

The teams play again tonight in Kennewick before the Chiefs close out the regular season on Sunday at Portland.
