CALDWELL (AP) - A jury has found the former Canyon County Prosecutor not guilty of embezzling more than $300,000 in public money.

The verdict ends the second trial involving former county attorney John Bujak.

The first trial ended in a hung jury.

Bujak was charged in 2010 on allegations he illegally and personally profited from a prosecution contract with the city of Nampa.

During the trial, Bujak argued the money was expected to be a partial benefit to him, and that the arrangement was sanctioned by the Canyon County Commissioners.

The prosecution argued no such agreement was made and that Bujak tricked the commissioners into believing he would hold the money until he was billed by for county resources used to meet the Nampa contract.

Bujak says he is relieved with the verdict.
