Former Chief Johnson nets 1st goal

A pair of rookies helped the Tampa Bay Lightning end a long losing streak at home.
Former Coeur d'Alene Laker and Spokane Chief Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat both scored their first NHL goals, and the Lightning beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 on Saturday night at Tampa, Fla., to snap their home skid at five.
It is the first time in Lightning history that two players netted their first goal in the same game.
"You look at Johnson and you look at Palat, they made a difference," Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher said.
Johnson, who attended Central Valley High, put the Lightning ahead 1-0 when he beat Peters from the low left circle with 9:06 left in the first.
"A lot of emotions," said Johnson, whose parents were in attendance for his second NHL game.
Penguins 3, Rangers 0: Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 23 shots to break a tie for Pittsburgh's career shutout record with 23, and the Penguins beat visiting New York for their eighth straight victory.
Fleury broke a tie with Tom Barrasso for the club shutout record.

Senators 4, Sabres 3, OT: Kyle Turris scored his second goal 3:54 into overtime to lift Ottawa at Buffalo.
Wild 6, Avalanche 4: At Denver, Devin Setoguchi scored twice and added the 100th assist of his NHL career to help Colorado beat Minnesota.
Jets 5, Maple Leafs 4, SO: Zach Bogosian scored in the 10th round of the shootout to lift Winnipeg at Toronto.
Islanders 4, Panthers 3: At Sunrise, Fla., Casey Cizikas broke a third-period tie, and New York held on to beat Florida after blowing a three-goal lead in the final frame.
Blue Jackets 1, Coyotes 0, SO: Sergei Bobrovsky made 39 saves in regulation and overtime, then two more in the shootout to finish with his second career shutout - both coming in the last week - to lift surging Columbus to a victory over visiting Phoenix, extending the Blue Jackets' franchise record point streak to 10 games.
Canadiens 2, Devils 1, SO: At Newark, N.J., Jarred Tinordi, in his NHL debut, set up Tomas Plekanec's tiebreaking goal in the third period, and Montreal beat New Jersey.
Blackhawks 8, Stars 1: Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa each scored twice in leading Chicago at Dallas.
Blues 2, Ducks 1, OT: Chris Stewart scored 45 seconds into overtime, helping host St. Louis end Anaheim's five-game winning streak.
Kings 5, Sharks 2: Kyle Clifford scored twice as Los Angeles beat visiting San Jose.
Red Wings 5, Canucks 2: Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader both scored two goals, and Detroit won at Vancouver.
