PREP GOLF: Vikings have good showing at Lewiston

LEWISTON - Michael Porter (74) and John Duffin (76) led the Coeur d'Alene boys' No. 1 team to a second-place finish Monday at the Lewiston Invitational at Lewiston Country Club.
Lake City's Jake Espeland shot a 71, just missing medalist honors by a stroke.
At the girl's Invitational, Clarkston took top honors, with the Coeur d'Alene girls in second, and Lake City was third amongst Idaho teams, placing fourth overall at Bryden Canyon.
"The weather today was great," Lake City captain Kylie Skipper said, "And made for a nice transition into the season."
Coeur d'Alene boys coach Bryan Duncan said the team is coming along.
"Lewiston Country Club is a tough course, and we still have a ways to go on putting - we really need to get down into the 30s," Duncan said. "With the depth of the boys' teams, I am happy with our 2-3 finish today, but I hope we can do some 1-2 finishes like we did last year.
"It's always a battle for a top 5 around here."
The Coeur d'Alene boys are back in action today at a tournament in Yakima.
"The kids played through some wind and had a really good day," Timberwolves boys coach Jim Maurer said. "I'm proud of what they put together."
Lake City faces Post Falls on Monday at Prairie Falls.
