THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks Track and Fieldteam held their first practice on Thursday, launching into the new season.
Head Coach Randy Symon has been coaching the Bluehawks for 30 years and said a lot of good kids are coming out for the team this year.
A handful of athletes are returning state placers – Hope Reid, Dominique Holt, Allison Vaught, Logan Naegeli and Preston Schubert.
This year the team has fewer athletes than last year, with 56 joining the team.
Practice focused on attempting to place each kid in events they are fit for, and with a lots of new kids to the program, the task is a big one.
“We have to find out what (the kids) can actually be good at,” said Coach Symon. “We’ll be testing them to see where they fit in and what they’ll be best at.
The first Track and Field event will be held in Columbia Falls on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m.
