ILLEGALS: Raul wrong on issue
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 10 months AGO
Despite the fact current immigration law has never been enforced, Congressman Raul Labrador says “new” immigration reform legislation is necessary to bring the 11+ million illegal aliens “out of the shadows.” Legislation granting them permanent legal status and access to any job--immediately--before securing the border, before requiring businesses to use employee verification, before ending birthright citizenship, etc.
This inundation of guest/permanent workers into the US labor market will put them in direct competition with the 22 million un/under-employed Americans. Healthcare and access to entitlements will add trillions to the deficit over what these predominantly low-skilled workers pay in taxes.
We’ve all heard before the false promises of enforcing immigration law and securing the border. Now budget constraints will provide convenient cover for not following through on benchmarks in any reform legislation. In reality, what Labrador proposes is the initial step in a two-step amnesty strategy.
Once this massive guest worker program is signed into law, the Democrats will accuse Republicans of creating a caste system along racial/ethnic lines in America. This (legitimate) protestation will lead to bipartisan legislation granting citizenship.
When Labrador stands up in every venue railing against “amnesty,” he is actually endorsing the end game--citizenship for millions of illegal aliens and the loss of American sovereignty.
