MOSES LAKE - The 87 Forgotten Heroes Committee presented a quilt to the Moses Lake Museum and Art Center Thursday honoring the 87 service members who lost their lives in a 1952 crash near Moses Lake.
Members of the American Legion Post 209 and Moses Lake Lions Club delivered the quilt to museum staff Thursday morning. Retired service members Rex Rogers, Grant Oberg, Mike Conley, Richard Radder, W. Ron Baker, and Darrin Jackson presented the quilt.
Last year was the 60th anniversary of the crash of a C-124A Globemaster aircraft at the now Grant County International Airport. The accident happened shortly after take-off on Dec. 20, 1952. The names of the airmen who died and survivors are listed on the back of the quilt.
The quilt was made and designed by committee member Ruezhon Roger and shows the Globemaster aircraft flying over the fields of Grant County.
Committee Consultant Joann Hosszu said the quilt is the final step in honoring the fallen soldiers and is finally where it should be, at the museum.

The committee was created to ensure the airmen lost in the crash will be remembered and provide a living memory and history of Grant County.
