PREP ROUNDUP: Bayley wins Post Falls Invite

POST FALLS - Lakeland's Derek Bayley won medalist honors in a playoff with Coeur d'Alene's Michael Porter, birdieing the second playoff hole at the Post Falls Invitational at Prairie Falls Golf Club.

Lakeland coach Mario Maddy said Bayley was 7-over over after three holes, before rallying with multiple birdies to get into the playoff.

"It wa a cold morning and a very nice afternoon," Maddy said.

Porter led the Vikings to the boys team title, with John Duffin and Jack Neal each carding 77s.

Post Falls finished second, with Corey Beaver (76) and Trevor Fedele (77) leading the charge.

"We are trying to keep improving," Trojans boys coach Darrell Hull said, "And we still have a ways to go to compete against Coeur d'Alene - they are strong and deep."

On the girls side, the Vikings had four scores in the 80s to win the team title, led by Allison Duffin's 82.

Kylie Skipper shot a 91 to lead Lake City to a third-place finish.

The teams are back in action after spring break at the Moscow Invitational at the University of Idaho course on April 8.

RATHDRUM - Erin Ogden hit a two-run double in the seventh as the Hawks held off the Wildcats' comeback in the bottom of the inning at Lakeland High School.

Kristin Klopatek struck out 16 and walked one for Lakeland.

"We really pulled together as a team today and got it done," Hawks coach Colleen Bevacqua said. Kellogg did a great job defensively today."

Lakeland (4-1) faces the Trojans in Post Falls today at 4.

The team returns to the court in Spokane Valley on Wednesday against Central Valley.
