Wines chosen for BBCC Foundation fundraiser

MOSES LAKE - The annual Big Bend Community College Foundation fundraiser, Cellarbration, will feature a selection of wines from Grant County.
Cellarbration is one of the foundation's main fundraisers, with the money raised going for student scholarships. The semi-formal dinner and auction features a four-course meal focused on food and wine pairings. Cellarbration 2013 is scheduled for May 18 at the college's ATEC building.
The wines are chosen in a blind test by a tasting panel, according to a press release from the foundation. The panel chooses at least two wines for each course.
The candidate wines are wrapped in paper bags and the panel doesn't know the vintage or variety. Wines were chosen for their suitability for the foods they were paired with and for their overall quality.
The wines selected include vintages from Jones of Washington in Quincy, Milbrandt Vineyards near Mattawa, Kyra Wines in Moses Lake, and Neppel Cellars of Moses Lake. The menu was prepared by Timothy Grayson, executive chef at Whitworth University.
Wines also were submitted from Cave B Wines in Quincy, Ginko Forest in Mattawa and Thomas O'Neil Cellars, with its tasting room in Richland.
The scholarships go to returning students, people in professional and technical programs and recent high school graduates.
