COEUR d'ALENE - Evan Johnson struck out nine and drove in three runs as the Lakeland Hawks beat the Lake City Timberwolves 8-3 in a nonleague baseball game on Wednesday at Lake City High.
Blake Wrotenbery had three hits for Lakeland (5-1), which hosts Sandpoint on April 9.
Kyle Parson had three hits for Lake City (0-2), which faces Asotin (Wash.) in a nonleague doubleheader on Saturday at Harris Field in Lewiston.
"Defensively, we played a lot better than the first game against Lake Washington," Lake City coach Travis Georgius said. "We didn't capitalize in some situations with runners on when we needed to. Lakeland played well and they're a real solid team. They make all the plays and hit the ball well. I was impressed with them."
