The Glacier softball team went 3-1 at the Great Falls Jamboree on Friday, ratcheting up its offense in the first game action of the season.

The Wolfpack had 24 hits and two home runs in four games against Eastern AA competition.

“(The home runs were) great sparks for us,” Glacier coach Andy Fors said. “I think we finished the season last year with two home runs. It was nice to get a couple of them opening weekend.”

Glacier won its first three games, beating Great Falls C.M. Russell 3-0, Billings Skyview 8-3 and Bozeman 7-3. The Wolfpack lost its last game 1-0 to Billings West.

“We hit the ball very well today,” Fors said. “Credit goes to (the girls) for the hard work they put in the offseason. They came out pretty strong at the plate.”

The Pack got a pair of huge hits in the first two games. Kayleena Ikeda hit a two-run homer in her first varsity at bat and Jena Willis followed in the second game with a two-run shot of her own.

“It’s a young squad,” Fors said.

“I’m very pleased with their performance this weekend. I thought they stepped up and competed well.”
