Lacrosse at home
The Flathead Lacrosse teams will host their only divisional home games of the season at the Grouse Mountain fields in Whitefish on May 4-5. The varsity will play Missoula Hellgate at noon on Saturday and Missoula Big Sky at noon and Polson at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The JV will play Missoula Hellgate at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Polson at 10 a.m. and Missoula Big Sky at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The varsity team went 3-5 last year and finished third in the Montana State Tournament. They are 5-2 now and ranked second, behind Missoula Hellgate.
Third boxer at Smoker
A third Columbia Falls boxer in the Crosstown Boxing Smoker at the Flathead County Fairgrounds on April 18 was Columbia Falls High School sophomore Dakota Krissie. He lost in a decision to Flathead High School’s Aaron Siderius.
B-ball tourney
The first ever “Wildcat Classic” boys and girls varsity basketball tournament is scheduled for July 20 and 21 at Columbia Falls High School. The tourney is open to teams from across Western Montana. Barth awarded
Former Columbia Falls High School football and basketball player Austin Barth was given the Tom Parac Award for most improved offensive player at Montana State University-Bozeman during the Bobcats Triangle Classic football banquet on April 19. Barth switched from quarterback in Columbia Falls to tight end for the Bobcats.
Folf league
Kalispell Parks and Recreation has organized a disc golf league at Lawrence Park in Kalispell that will start Tuesday, May 7, and run through Aug. 27 for all ages and abilities. Cost to play is $10. For more information, call 758-7848.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.
Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
