Whitefish Theatre Company holds auditions for its fall production of “Noises Off” May 12 and 13.

Auditions start at 6 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Actors are asked to arrive early in the green room to fill out an audition application and review the script.

“Noises Off” by Michael Frayn is a play within a play. It presents a manic cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing's On.” Doors slamming, on-stage and backstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.

The cast members desperately try to maintain composure and resort to sabotaging their fellow actors, resulting in a terrifying descent into hilarious chaos. Missed cues, broken backstage romances and a very slippery plate of sardines all come together to create this riotous, madcap comedy that will get everyone caught in the act.

The cast will be made up of six men and four women, ages 20 and older.  No experience is necessary, and no preparation is required for the audition.

Jesse DeVine, Whitefish Theatre Company’s artistic director, is the director for this production. Total time commitment for this play is eight weeks of rehearsal Monday through Friday.

There are seven performances over two weekends Oct. 10 through 13 and 18 through 20.
