Valkyries tennis goes 1-1-1 for week

The Bigfork High School girls tennis team had a win, loss and two ties to show for its efforts last week.

On Thursday at Eureka, the Valkyries tied the Lady Lions 3-3 and lost to Superior 1-5.

Brooke Bonner won in No. 2 singles against Eureka, while the doubles teams of Shelby Scoggins/Alanis Stallknecht and Mariah Bradstreet/Genovieve Gibson also won.

Against Superior, Stallknecht’s win in No. 2 singles provided the only victory for the Vals.

On Saturday at St. Ignatius, Bigfork soundly defeated Eureka 6-0 and tied with host Mission 3-3.

In singles play vs. Eureka, Scoggins, Stallknecht, Lana Berg and Alex Hider won, as did the doubles teams of Madison Fraley/Bonner and Alauna Weilacher/Kayla Casalegno.

Against Mission, Stallknecht won in No. 2 singles, while Weilacher/Casalegno won in No. 2 doubles. Bigfork also won a forfeit in No. 1 doubles. Coach Mike Bonner said Saturday’s matches were played in extremely windy conditions.
