Polson improves to 5-0 in Northwestern A softball

FRENCHTOWN — The Polson softball team remained perfect in conference play with an 11-6 win over Frenchtown Thursday.
Polson (11-1 overall, 5-0 Northwestern A) trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but scored eight runs in the top of the second to blow the game open.
The Pirates loaded the bases for Sarah Rausch, who drove in Polson’s first two runs with a single. Jaiden Toth followed with a two-RBI triple. Jessica Bagnell and Heidi Rausch hit RBI-doubles later in the inning.
Jaylin Kenney and Shalaina Duford led Polson with two hits apiece. Duford was the winning pitcher, allowing eight hits and two walks in seven innings. She struck out five.
Abby Indreland took the loss for Frenchtown (11-2, 2-2), surrendering eight runs on seven hits in two innings. Morgan Ray pitched five innings of relief, allowing three runs on three hits.
Indreland and Ray each batted 2 for 4 to lead Frenchtown at the plate.
Polson hosts nonconference games against Hamilton and Corvallis on Saturday.
