Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Brenda Claire Seaton, 52, of Cataldo, passed away April 30, 2013, at the family home in Cataldo. She was born Oct. 18, 1960, in Kellogg. Brenda was the daughter of John and Mary Gail (Schutt) Powers.

Brenda attended and graduated from Castle Rock High School in Castle Rock, Wash., in 1979. She had also attended North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. Brenda has lived in the Silver Valley for most of her life. She married Randal A. “Randy” Seaton on Aug. 9, 1980, in Kellogg.

Brenda had worked at the Head Start-Shoshone Center in Kellogg for three years; she then worked as a para-educator for the Canyon Elementary school in Cataldo for six years. Brenda loved teaching and children.

Brenda also loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, river rafting and cooking.

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Randy Seaton of the family home in Cataldo; four children, Josh Seaton of Pinehurst, Matt Seaton of Cataldo, Randal Seaton of Bend, Ore., and Elizabeth Reed of Cataldo; two grandchildren, Syrus and Charley; her mother, Mary Gail Powers of Kingston; her father and stepmother, John and Becky Powers of Kingston; one brother, John Powers of Medimont; and three stepsisters, Babette, Lynn and Samantha. Brenda is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Janine Powers.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Hunt Cemetery in Kingston. A Celebration of Brenda’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Kellogg High School gymnasium in Kellogg with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the community and the Kellogg Varsity Basketball Team members and coaches for all of their love and support.
