Search and rescue personnel reported finding remains outside Glacier National Park north of the Glacier Rim access on May 2.

The remains consisted of several bones and a pistol, according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry. He said there were not many bones and it had yet to be determined if they were human.

Contrary to previous reports, the bones were not found in the Park. Glacier Rim is a popular boat launch and fishing site just outside of Glacier, in the North Fork of the Flathead about eight miles north of Columbia Falls.
