Candidate filing week begins Monday

GRANT COUNTY - Candidate filing week begins Monday for anyone wishing to run for local elections.
Candidates can file in person at the Grant County Election Department located on the second floor of the courthouse, Room 203 in Ephrata beginning at 8 a.m. Monday. Filing closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 17.
Electronic filing online opens at 9 a.m., May 13, and closes May 17 at 4 p.m.
Candidates can also file by mail, which opened April 29. The filings by mail are retained for processing until filing opens for all candidates.
A person filing a Declaration of Candidacy for an office must be properly registered to vote in the district represented by the office at the time of filing.
Candidates who file may also submit a signed request to withdraw candidacy before 5 p.m. May 20.
A filing fee equal to 1 percent of the salary of the position a person is filing for is required. If there is no salary, there is no filing fee. Filing fees are non-refundable.
