OK, enough is enough.

I have attended school board meetings. I attended the Mica Grange school board forum. I have just read the front page coverage of school board candidates and again, I hear Ann Seddon making a claim that I find inappropriate to me as an educator.

In regard to “her” math initiative and remediation of basic math facts, she claims, and I quote, “This was not happening previously.”

As a teacher of Primary grade level children for more than 25 years, I know first hand that remediation is a part of every day in the classroom and has been…forever!

We differentiate to meet the needs of our learners…period. Whether its with flashcards, manipulatives or whatever strategy our learner needs to get them to understand, we do it. It’s one of the million things that teachers do for their learners every single day.

Thank you, teachers, for all you do. As a retired educator, I applaud you!
