COEUR d'ALENE - For this year's 10th annual "Get Active America!" program, which runs throughout May, Peak Health and Wellness Centers will be opening its doors to the public.

Peak members can bring a friend for free from May 13-20, and the club will open its doors to the community, free of charge, from May 20-26.

During the week of May 20-26, the club will hold several beginner and senior exercise classes where people in the community will be able to start an exercise program.

"I think anyone who has been thinking about fitness or maybe wanting to try out a new class or a new gym but not wanting to pay fees will be interested in this," said Lindsay Cantrell, club manager. "This will be a great intro to our facilities, our staff and instructors, and a great way to try something new without feeling any pressure."

"Peak realizes how difficult it is to make healthy lifestyle changes and how important it is to have the support of those around you," said Peak Health and Wellness Center owner Gary Retter. "We're here to offer inspiration and support to those in our community who want to improve their health and live more physically active lives."

Cantrell said Peak's three locations will be participating, at 940 Ironwood Drive, in Coeur d'Alene; 190 W. Centra Drive, in Hayden; and 927 E. Polston Ave., in Post Falls.

She said Peak's main goal is getting the community involved and exercise and healthy living.

"The benefit to the club is to be a part of a healthier community and also our hope is obviously that some of these people will become long-term happy, healthy members," Cantrell said.
