LEWISTON — Lani Wahl won the long jump and triple jump, Mikhaela Woodward the 3,200 and Nikole Alamillo dominated the discus, leading the Bulldog girls team to a big lead after the first day of action Friday at the 4A Region 1 track championships at Lewiston High School.

Alamillo won the discus by nearly 25 feet and finished second in the shot put, and even though she finished second, Maddie Suppiger’s 5-2 in the high jump would have won at the 5A level.

Not surprisingly, Sam Levora cruised to an easy win in the 3,200, Grant Kennaly and brother Mark Kennaly each cleared 5-8 to finish first and second, respectively, in the high jump, and Todd Pays was first in the shot put and second in the discus for the Bulldog boys, who hold a slim one point lead over Moscow after the first day of action.

The two-day meet concludes today. The top three finishers, plus winning relays, qualify for state next Friday and Saturday at Eagle High. Fourth-place finishers will also be considered for wild-card berths.
