Country music, pool, dance lessons, karaoke, a full bar and barbecue goodies (soon) are featured at The Country Club now open in downtown Coeur d'Alene. The "down-home experience" is at 216 E. Coeur d'Alene Ave. in what formerly was the Rendezvous/Torch Lounge.
Special activities are offered each night with free pool and an open-corn toss Sundays and Mondays, free country dance lessons 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, country karaoke 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Ladies' Night and free dance lessons 6-8 p.m. Thursdays and live country music 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays ($5 cover).
Owners are Dave Pulis and Mike Lyon of the Moose Lodge and Jack Tawney of Peak Fitness. Michelle Whittenberger is assistant manager.
With 20 draft beers and free peanuts, the club opens at 4 p.m. Phone 676-CLUB (2582). Facebook "thecountryclubcda" with the website coming.
Sports Authority open in Silver Lake Mall
Saturday is the 8 a.m. grand opening of Sports Authority in Silver Lake Mall (200 W. Hanley Ave., between Government Way and Highway 95).
Billing itself as "the premiere store for all things sporting good," the 44,000-square-foot store's brands include Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, North Face, Taylormade and more. Sports Authority also offers sport equipment rentals and services.
The grand opening Saturday includes many special prizes and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate 1-2:30 p.m.
Regular Coeur d'Alene hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Sweet Moments also new in SLM
A large array of baked goods in the morning, soups and sandwiches in the afternoon and many coffee drinks are featured at Sweet Moments Bakery. The new shop opened in the hallway at the south end of Silver Lake Mall.
Owner Beth Hobson said the store features home-made breads, lunch-hour specials and special-order cakes. She has been in the baking business for 15 years.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Phone 446-6570. A website is pending.
