Empty kayak prompts concerned call

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Sunday about a half-submerged kayak on the Middle Fork Flathead River near West Glacier. No one was in the blue kayak, prompting concern that someone might be in the water. A Glacier National Park ranger later made contact with the owner of the vessel, who was fine. The person said the kayak “just got away.”

A Ridgewood Drive resident reported seeing a neighbor urinating in public.

There was a report of a large group of disorderly people at a bar on Electric Avenue in Bigfork.

There was a report of a fight between a man and woman at a Foy’s Lake Road address.

A person calling from Migration Road in the Somers area reported a theft of prescription medication.

A man showed up in the sheriff’s office lobby to report that he had been robbed at a location on Good Creek Road.

A woman calling from a Montana 35 location in Evergreen reported that her 15-year-old daughter assaulted the woman’s boyfriend.


Kalispell Police got a report Sunday about a back window of a vehicle broken out in the Hutton Ranch Plaza area.

There was a report of two men and a woman fighting at a residence on Eighth Avenue West and First Street West.

There was a report of two bicycles stolen over the weekend at a Fifth Avenue West residence.

There was a report of a man kicking out the tail light on a vehicle on East Center Street after arguing with the vehicle’s owner.

Early Monday, just before 1 a.m., there was a report of a man leaving a restaurant on East Idaho Street without paying.

A person was arrested on a warrant at a location on East Idaho.

There was a report of a shed broken into at an Eighth Avenue West residence, with a lawn mower, weed eater and tools stolen.

There was a report of a car broken into on Second Avenue East North, with a purse and wallet stolen.


Whitefish Police responded to a report of a disorderly man at North Valley Hospital Sunday.

A person calling from Edgewood Place reported that a drunken man drove a van through a yard and then was attempting to change a tire on the vehicle in the middle of the road. The man was arrested for drunken driving.

A man reported that someone threw a rock through a window at his Wisconsin Avenue home.


Columbia Falls Police got a report Sunday regarding an unwanted woman in a store on Nucleus Avenue.

A woman calling from Martha Road reported that her neighbors threatened her and her children after she asked them to move their vehicle.

There was a report of a bicycle stolen from a location on Nucleus Avenue.
